46D 47C 48B 49A 50C

51A 52B 53C 54D 55B

53C operate

It takes a lot of patience to be a teacher. However, it takes a certain something to be a young teacher with students who are close to your age. Being a 23yearold university teacher, my students are only a few years younger than I, and I often find that they treat me differently in comparison with  their older, more experienced teachers.

As a young teacher, I have found that some students treat me more like a friend, rather than their elder. I have had many students who ask questions about my personal life. For example, one student wondered if I had a boyfriend, and if I would be willing to go on a date with him. This was very unexpected, and I had to kindly remind him that this was not an proper subject for our class.I have even had students who ask me for advice about friendship, school, life, and even their relationships with their boyfriends/girlfriends.

A young teacher has to be able to gain the respect, but also the admiration of their students. I feel as though I can relate to them on a more personal level, and I think they are able to do the same. Because we are so close in age, I think the students feel more comfortable around me and do not feel shy about speaking their mind. And in turn, I am also more relaxed about my teaching style, because, of course, I want them to like me!

So, where do you draw the line? Is it appropriate to be friends with your students? Perhaps, it is necessary to become friends with them in order to capture a certain respect. There are advantages and disadvantages to being a young teacher; but in the end, I truly enjoy being a youthful teacher.

56. That my students treat me in a different way is because________.

A. I have not a lot of patience

B. I am only a few years older than my students

C. I don't look like a university teacher

D. I am much younger, less experienced than other teachers

57. I think it's NOT proper for my student to________.

A. treat me like a friend

B. treat me like the elder

C. ask me for advice about friendship

D. ask me if I want to go on a date with him

58. From the last two paragraphs, we can learn that________.

A. it's impossible for young teachers to gain the respect from students

B. it's easy for young teachers to get along well with students

C. young teachers had better not be friends with students

D. students don't like young teachers

59. The underlined word “appropriate” in the last paragraph can be replaced by________.

England, France and Switzerland all played electronic music at the 1967 world's fair held in Canada. They used it as background music for their exhibits.

What exactly is electronic music? Sounds are produced not on common musical instruments but on electronic ones. Electromagnetic vibrations (电磁震动) are changed into sound waves.

Electronic music is not new. It first began to amaze listeners in the early 1900s. They thought the new music strange. They said it was music for a haunted (闹鬼的) house.

Electronic music developed at different speeds in different parts of the world. In 1906, an American invented a telharmonium (电传乐器), which made use of alternating current.  In Russia, Leon Theremin, a physicistmusician, invented the boxlike instrument that bears his name.Musicians stood in front of the instrument and waved their hands in the air.

Electronic music continued developing. In 1948 “concrete music” was first played. It was put forward by a French engineer, Pierre Schaeffer. Street noises, radio commercials, conversation, and other sounds were recorded on tapes. The tapes were then run backward. Different kinds of sounds were produced when the speed of the tape was made faster or slower.

In 1955, the electronic synthesizer (音响合成器) was invented. Looking something like a combination of a piano and a computer, the synthesizer can produce all the tones that the human ear can hear.

Many people question whether these different sounds are music. Experts say we must get used to new sounds before we can enjoy them. Today, some listeners say they enjoy the new music very much.

A special note to parents

It's time to give your kids a break. Constantly comparing them to a or another teenager gets old very quickly. Would you like to live your life with someone regularly making comparisons between you and someone else? How would wives feel if they were always told they are not as good at cooking as their motherinlaw, or how about fathers who are often reminded they are not as goodlooking or as rich as their wives' first boyfriend?Who cares anyway? Why, then, should your son or daughter always be held up for comparison with others?

It's time to give your kids a break.

Most people don't do their best work with someone looking over their shoulders. Forty years from now it won't matter what shoes your son wore, or how your daughter fixed her hair. What will matter is how they lived their lives.Isn't it the goal of all parents to raise a child who someday can be truly independent?

Concentrate on telling your child what they do well for a change. Remember, as parents we earn respect by how we live our lives, and not by what we demand of others. A young person who believes they are valuable can accomplish great things.Pick a few skills or behaviors that the teenager in your family does well, and offer a bit of praise and encouragement. A few kind words will surely bring a smile to their face, and perhaps a desire to work even harder.

Your sons and daughters are responsible for their own lives, so love them and give them the respect and support they deserve.Your children have the potential to grow into healthy and beautiful flowers or strong trees, young adults that you will be proud of, and not have to compare with anyone else.

72. The first paragraph mainly wants to tell us that ________.

A. parents shouldn't often compare their kids with others

B. it's very useful to make comparisons between you and someone else

C. no one likes being compared with others

D. you had better leave your kids alone

73. For all parents, their goal is ________.

A. to do their best work

B. to give whatever their children want

C. to live a happy life with their children

D. to want their children to be independent someday

74. According to the passage, as parents we had better ________.

A. accomplish great things for our children

B. offer a bit of praise and encouragement to our children

C. often compare our children with others

D. work even harder than our children

75. According to the last paragraph, which of the following is TRUE?

A. Parents should be responsible for their children's lives.

B. Children should give their parents respect and support.

C. Without parents' help, their children can't grow up.

D. Parents should believe their children are able to grow up.

People have to develop their own thoughts ,opinions, feelings, and ideas about different topics and beliefs. We are influenced by different people, places, and experiences in our lives which may influence us when we have to make a decision. A person has to keep open-minded when developing an opinion. Gathering information is also crucial(决定性的)to make a decision. The more you know about a topic, the easier it will be to make a good decision. As people grow up, they may even change their previous opinions and have new ideas.

Every person has unique talents, characteristics, and challenges to share with the world. Some people are good at reading and writing. Other people are talented at art and music. Some people are good at working with numbers or science. Others are talented by sharing their creativity. The Best Way to Learn

Studying alone allows students to remain focuses and avoid interruption, while group study creates a more enjoyable learning environment.

Personally I like studying in groups. When studying in groups we can learn from each other, share our experiences in solving difficult problems and learn more in less time.

In the past I seldom had the confidence to discuss study topics with my classmates. I also had little enthusiasm for studying as I found it to be very boring. But following my teachers' advice I joined a study group and to my surprise my performance in class improved greatly. Studying became more enjoyable and something I looked forward to doing as I was able to learn from as well as help others. So for me, studying in groups is by far the most effective way to learn.
